Papers, 1861-1907 (bulk 1861-1865).

The collection includes photocopies of Shepherd's military record with the 27th and 145th Indiana Volunteer regiments, and a manuscript history of the 27th regiment. Probably written after the war, the history tells of the regiment going to New York City to put down the draft riots of 1863; service in Tennessee; and the Atlanta Campaign. Also included are Shepherd's pension papers.
